The Television Issue
Here are fifteen pieces of writing that
I like very much.
After a great deal of close reading and
reflection, I can now say that the idea for a TV Issue of
Mississippireview.com, which was entirely my own idea, was
perhaps not the best idea anyone ever had for a special issue.
Discussing TV is a little less interesting than watching it.
Fortunately, the writers who sent their work in saw this and found
ways around the problem. TV sets do appear here, sort of randomly,
like Alfred Hitchcock boarding a train in the background. The story
is always somewhere else.
There is no common theme in the works I
chose. I am grateful to have traded the pedestrian concept I started
out with for these particular wonders.
