Note to Authors:
New World Writing is making substantial changes in how we will operate in future. These changes are effective immediately. Please review the following before submitting any new work.
We’ve decided that the “continuous publication model” that we’ve followed in recent years is no longer working as we had intended, so we are reorganizing the magazine as a traditional quarterly issued in January, April, July, and October.
New World Writing will accept submissions only in the two weeks preceding the date of publication, that is, in late December, March, June, and September.
Our editors remain the same. We welcome queries/applications from individuals who might want to join our group as editors. If you are interested, send an email to our Executive Editor, at
We hope to come back at you with a more intriguing, more topical, more compelling magazine that you will want to read and enjoy quarterly. We will, of course, make adjustments along the way as we come upon new notions, ideas, opportunities.
A Note on Content
We are hoping to expand our operation to include all kinds of content — fiction, poetry, music, art, photographs, nonfiction, interviews, asides, short reports, journalism, opinion, whatev. Thus we invite contributors to send to us any such material at the Submissions link at top of any page. We will look at everything and publish what we can.
Submissions should be sent as attachments in MS Word format and should include a short 150–200 word bio note at the end of each submission. All work should be carefully edited, proofread, and spellchecked before submission. All rights (except NWW reprint rights) revert to individual authors upon publication. We are happy to read work of any length. Many thanks for your interest.
We are reading new submissions of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. Response time varies but is reasonably quick, all things considered. New World Writing posts new material quarterly. Information about upcoming interests will appear this page.
If you’d like to submit, please follow the link below.
We want to alert all authors sending work to New World Writing that our practice is to notify contributors whose work we are not using via a short form note. We hope this doesn’t offend. Given the scarcity of staff and the number of submissions it is simple necessity.
